“Air Monitoring for First Responders”

Revolutionizing Meter Training for the First Responder

Course Description

Many First Responder training classes are deficient in air monitoring and the use of the basic 4-Gas meter at all levels of Awareness, Operations, and Technician courses.

The Meter Guys Air Monitoring course is designed to fill this void and provide high quality SME training. Students will participate in lecture, case studies, and hands-on meter training involving DOT transported chemicals. Upon completion of this course, you will learn about calibration and bump testing importance, peak readings, STEL, and fresh air calibration.

This course focuses on how to use a meter properly, understand the readings and the implications of such on emergency responses. A majority of first responders can turn a meter on, but have no idea what the readings mean when it alarms, nor the knowledge of the changing situation as a meter begins to register readings putting them at significant risk

Through this training you will learn about each individual sensor in the 4-Gas Meter (LEL, O2, CO, H2S) to better understand what your meter is telling you. You will understand and physically experience the meter alarms during the hands-on portion of the workshop.

This course is a self-contained course with everything to teach the class. You can bring your own meter to use during the workshop or a meter will be provided for each student.

This course is designed to make the First Responder competent to detect the presence of danger to ensure the safety of their crew and the public. Furthermore, The Meter Guys instills the need for air monitoring to promote safety and health and help prevent Firefighter Cancers.

Registration for this workshop is a separate process. After you register for the Midwest Haz Mat Conference, you will be sent an email with the pre-conference workshop registration link and password. Once the workshop is full registration for the pre-conference workshop will close.
