Each student will receive a copy of NEC Analysis of Changes, 2017 Edition, a $70.00 value.
COURSE AGENDA
This 16-hour instructor led courses is intended to familiarize the student with the contents of the 2017 National Electrical Code (NEC). With the introduction of new technologies into the marketplace the National Electrical Code must be updated to meet the growing trends.
This course is designed to give students not only the changes to the 2017 NEC but will also provide the reason for these changes to enable the students to more easily absorb the changes and implement new rulings.
The course addresses Code revisions that apply to all types of occupancies, including residential, commercial and industrial
- Lesson 1 will cover Code-wide and definitions and will include an analysis of the most noteworthy requirements and changes in the first two chapters of the 2017 National electrical code.
- Lesson 2 will continue discussion and analysis of additional important code changes and requirements in chapter 3 and 4 of the 2017 NEC.
- Lesson 3 will provide overview of code requirements and changes to the remaining chapters including the tables in chapter 9.
- Finally, practical exercises of extracting information from the 2017 NEC to ensure that students can find the information as part of their job duties.
Upon completion of this class the student will be able to;
- Discuss the requirements and in the 2017 NEC.
- Ensure compliance with applicable Code standards when reviewing and writing plans and specifications.
- Identify a code section(s) where additional study may be appropriate for the student’s practice.
- Recognize new articles incorporated into the 2017 NEC and the reason for the change.
- Recall some of the basic safety requirements contained in the 2017 NEC as it relates to the OSHA regulations.

- Electricians, Master, Journeyman and Apprentices who work on or near the following exposures: residential, commercial, power generation and distribution.
- Elevator workers/Contractors.
- Alarm and sprinkler workers/Contractors.
- Electrical inspectors.
- Engineers/Planners we value wait plans and diagrams for contracts.
- Personnel who inspect audit and evaluate electrical workers.
- Safety personnel involved with ensuring electrical safety compliance
